Shawna Connor

Manager, Communications & Marketing

Shawna joined the UW System in 2015 as Interim Director of Marketing & Communications at UW-Richland; following, she served on the leadership team for the Southwest Region of UW Colleges as Regional Director of Communications, working with faculty, staff and students of UW-Baraboo/Sauk County, UW-Richland and UW-Rock County. 

Shawna’s professional experience includes collaboration on multi-faceted projects with state and federal agencies, including the Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Highway Administration, state Department of Transportation and the state Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She has worked for or with the press in some capacity since 1996, and her favorite project to date was her decade-long role in the promotion of the World’s Largest Recycle Project – the recycle and reuse of Denver’s former Stapleton International Airport. 

Additionally, she has 20 years of experience in the private sector, leading teams – large and small – in marketing and communications, public and media relations, crisis communication and business and event management. 

Shawna has a Bachelor’s degree in Radio/Television from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and a Master of Applied Communication degree from the University of Denver.
